Procrastination is the THIEF of time and the ENEMY of success.
We’ve all been guilty of procrastinating at some point. We say: "I'll do it tomorrow..."
On average, a person loses over 55 days each year procrastinating. Some people are even black-belt champions of it.
TYPE 1: THE PERFECTIONIST
Perfectionists get stressed about making every detail flawless. They often get stuck in overthinking and overanalyzing everything.
ADVICE FOR THE PERFECTIONIST:
Choose progress over perfection.
Remember: "It's better done than perfect." and "Good is good enough."
Set a time limit for each task and focus on doing a good job—not a perfect one. Then, move on to the next step.
TYPE 2: THE WORRIER
Worriers tend to put things off because they fear being judged when they make mistakes.
ADVICE FOR THE WORRIER:
Mistakes are part of life—it’s impossible to learn or grow without them. People will judge us no matter what we do, so we might as well live the life of our dreams and pursue what makes us happy.
TYPE 3: THE CRISIS-MAKER
Crisis-makers deliberately push tasks to the last minute, finding excitement in looming deadlines. They believe they perform best under pressure.
ADVICE FOR THE CRISIS-MAKER:
Relying on time pressure to perform better is just an illusion. If you enjoy working under pressure, create it intentionally by using tools like the Pomodoro Technique, developed by Francesco Cirillo. (Google it—it’s a game-changer!)
TYPE 4: THE BUSY BEE
Busy Bees struggle with prioritizing. They find it hard to choose what’s most important and delay decisions as a result.
ADVICE FOR THE BUSY BEE PROCRASTINATOR:
Get your priorities straight. Remember, important tasks should come before urgent ones.
“Urgent” doesn’t always mean “important.” Your time and energy are limited, so don’t waste them on things that don’t matter.
TYPE 5: THE COMBINATION
This type is a mix of all the above procrastinator styles.
ADVICE FOR THE COMBINATION PROCRASTINATOR:
Become aware of when you’re delaying something.
Regain control by deciding to take the first step. The best way to get something done is simply to begin.
Break down tasks into smaller, manageable sub-tasks and steps. Progress builds momentum.
If you want to stop procrastinating and achieve your goals, you must be brave, focused, and willing to push through discomfort or fear.
Start small: schedule just one push-up, read one paragraph, or take one step.
Each action, no matter how small, brings you closer to your goals.
Affirm:
"I AM AN ACHIEVER. I GET THINGS DONE!"
