We are all guilty of procrastinating sometimes. We say: "I'll do it tomorrow..."
On average, a person loses over 55 days each year procrastinating. Some people are black belt champions of it.
TYPE 1: THE PERFECTIONIST
They get stressed about getting every detail perfect. They get stuck in overthinking and overanalyzing everything.
ADVICE FOR THE PERFECTIONIST:
Choose progress over perfection.
"It's better done than perfect." and "Good is good enough." Set a time limit for each task and focus on doing a good job (not perfect but a good job) and progress to the next step.
TYPE 2: THE WORRIER
They would rather put off anything than be judged by others when they make mistakes.
ADVICE FOR THE AVOIDER:
Mistakes are a part of life. It's impossible to live a life without making them. That's how we learn to do anything. People will judge us no matter what we do. We might as well start living the life of our dreams and do what makes us happy.
TYPE 3: THE CRISIS-MAKER
The crisis-maker deliberately pushes back anything until the last minute. They find deadlines (crises) exciting and believe that they work best when working under pressure.
ADVICE FOR THE CRISIS-MAKER:
Being forced to rush the work because you will perform better is just an illusion. If you enjoy working under time pressure, do it on purpose, by using the Pomodoro technique, developed by Italian entrepreneur Francesco Cirillo. Google it :))
TYPE 4: THE BUSY BEE
They have trouble prioritizing. They don’t know how to choose what’s best for them and simply postpone making any decisions.
ADVICE FOR THE BUSY BEE PROCRASTINATOR
Get your priorities straight. Important things should take priority over urgent ones.
“Urgent” doesn’t always mean important. You only have so much time and energy, and you don’t want to waste them on things that don’t matter.
TYPE 5: THE COMBINATION OF THE ABOVE TYPES.
ADVICE TO HELP YOU TACKLE THIS ONE:
Become aware when you delay yourself from doing something.
Gain control by making a decision to take the first step. The best way to get something done is to begin.
Break down your tasks into smaller sub-tasks, and sub-steps to make it simpler to progress. Small steps build up momentum.
If you want to stop procrastinating and reach your goals, you need to be brave and focused, and push yourself to take action, even when it feels difficult or scary.
Schedule to do one push-up, read one paragraph, or take one step.
Don't let fear or uncertainty hold you back - keep moving forward with courage and determination, each time you take action, you are one step closer to achieving your goals.
Affirm: “I AM AN ACHIEVER. I GET THINGS DONE!”
